Short Pilgrim Walks to Cleator

We are hoping to encourage some members of local parishes who wish to do so to join together on a series of short pilgrimage walks linking together and arriving at Cleator in time for the pilgrimage mass at 3:00pm.
The proposal is that groups should make use of the local cycleways and walk from Egremont, Whitehaven, Frizington meeting together near Moor Row and then process down through Cleator village to St Mary’s.

Other Organisational Notes

  • Each group will be responsible for their own organisation, it would be useful if the leader of each group would share their mobile phone number with me to help us co-ordinate meeting times.
  • Groups will need to ensure those taking part are able to comfortably walk the distances involved.
  • You will need to have arrangements in place to ferry your walkers back to the starting point after the mass.
  • We would like to be witnesses and create a prayerful atmosphere as we walk, so it may be good if each group had a cross to carry or banner (depending upon the weather), the rosary could be said whilst walking.
  • At the start of the mass we would like all of those who have walked here to process in together just prior to the start.
