LENT
Lent begins on Ash Wednesday 1st March. Good Friday is on 14th April and Easter Sunday 16th April. Take the opportunity to make a good Lent this year, traditionally for Catholics this has been through fasting, almsgiving (giving to charity/ helping others) and prayer.
Some things to help you make a good Lent:
Prayer
Why not come along to our prayer course this Lent? Four evening sessions followed by a day away. Click the image for more details.
This is 'Pray as You Go's' Lent retreat for 2017 based on the seven last words of Christ. This is an audio retreat released in weekly parts for you to listen to on your phone or computer. Click the image for more details.
Stations of the Cross Follow in Christ's final footsteps through his trial and crucifixion each Friday during Lent, 7pm at St Mary’s, starting 3rd March. Every Monday during Lent, 12.30pm at St Joseph’s, starting 6th March. You can also click the image to listen to an audio meditation on the stations of the cross, this is also available as a download for your phone.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation Everyone should make the effort to attend confession once during Lent. Confessions are heard on Saturdays after the 10:00 am Mass at St Joseph's and 6:00 - 6:45 pm at St Mary's. Preparation is essential when making a good confession, many people find it useful to read an examination of conscience as part of this preparation.
